Sounds from underground/File N°67

L'immagine può contenere: 3 personeso we are talking about this great band you're looking for from a long time? the one that make this a bit weird stuff that at the same time is so addictive? this sort of music you want to make listen to all your friends and you want they love it as much as you? ok, I got it, you're talking about music of «oOo». just great. I don't think it needs further explanation. dig it
0. name of the band
oOo and when we are collaborating with other musicians oOo & free O
1. where are you from?
We are citizens of Earth and you can find us most of the time practicing in Ljubljana capital of so called country Slovenia. We don't believe in borders and nationalities and weird stuff like that...
2. what kind of instruments/equipment you use? do you use some particular record technique? which is your method of composition?
It all begun with Tina on drums, Mihael and Žiga on guitars. But since we play improvised garage noise r'n'r music we started to expand our range of sounds with saxophone, trumpet, synthesizers and things we can hit or press and they react back with sound.

We record every time we get together to enjoy soOounds. We put one Zoom h2n in the middle of the room and try not to forget press record button when we start improvising. Than we use interesting parts and produce mix them a bit. Since we enjoy listening what we recorded we share it to the universe of ears for those that are looking for something challenging. So there is no composition method it is just a moment that we catch or not.
3. what do you think about the music context nowadays and how you place yourself in? do you feel a part of any scene?
As any art music should challenge the listener and give him a chance to think/rethink what he knows. We feel a part of every creative and open scene, that's why we did two years ago a 6 hours concert called PoOovezoOovanja (CoOonectings) with 15 guests from different musical scenes. 4. do you think that nowadays has still sense talking about "underground"?
Underground will exist as long as mainstream will. It is like jing jang one wouldn't exist without the other one. What has changed is accessibility of art from underground. But average brains are lazy and they don't try to search for things that are not served on plate.
5. do you play live? how public react to your music?
We just had short concert at Metelkova squat (link: http://www.metelkovamesto.org/?lang=txt_eng&) in Ljubljana in middle of February and have one more on the menu at the end of March. We love to play live and see how we challenge people with our music that emerges for the first time in front of audience. Humans are afraid of the unknown so reaction depends on how opened and life experienced are they. So audience loved our last gig but we had concerts when audience was confused after they heard us but this is what we like as artists.
6. Genesis P-Orridge said "Our records were documents of attitudes and experiences and observations by us and other determinedly individual outsiders. Fashion was an enemy, style irrelevant.". What do your records represent to you?
As outside listeners we can say that records form others are something we wouldn't survive without. We are music junkies, we are listening all the time all sorts of music, live and on the records so it is logical consequence that we have lots of records in our collections. As inside listeners we can say that moments are what we love to share and enjoy. But in the next moment we forget them and move on. If somebody comes along and finds any of it interesting, irritating or just lift his or hers eyebrow than we succeeded. We will never become an elevator music.
