Vitayem! Hello! We are Drwiwy

1. where are you from?

We are from the wilds of Belarus!

2. what kind of instruments/equipment you use? do you use some particular record technique? which is your method of composition?

Well, our band equipment changes a lot from time to time, but mostly we use electric or acoustic guitars, with loads of pedals and software production. Also, samples and keys are used heavily. Plus some of the acoustic wind and percussion instruments. Filed recordings and old soviet synth were also involved on some recordings.

3. what do you think about the music context nowadays and how you place yourself in? do you feel a part of any scene?

I like the diversity that we have now and allowance to create which was introduced by technology. At the same time, I see many musicians and bands lost in this game of sounds and equipment.

4. do you think that nowadays has still sense talking about "underground"?

I would say that now being “underground” became a kind of competition – all are trying to be more and more “experimental” and as a result we have phoney and loose music and songs which leave a listener without a chance to enjoy it.

5. do you play live? how public react to your music?

We make occasional lives in Belarus and now would like to play somewhere in other countries. I wouldn’t say that all of our live appearances were nice, but people react in various ways - from kind words after concert to real hatred. Anyway, we are human beings and everyone is allowed to react to our music in his or her own way.

6. Genesis P-Orridge said "Our records were documents of attitudes and experiences and observations by us and other determinedly individual outsiders. Fashion was an enemy, style irrelevant.". What do your records represent to you?

Although, I am not a great fan of Genesis music and views, his words are a bit in common with music we make… Maybe one wouldn’t like Drwiwy music, but at least he has to listen.
